Squat-like pastime in a music café in Moscow
‘Squat’ is the third and most daring project by founders of much-talked-of FAQ-Cafe and ArteFAQ clubs. The club’s concept results from its name and applies to both its interior design and program.
Squatters are artists, musicians, poets, writers, actors and other creative personalities occupying abandoned buildings where they create and fulfill themselves.
The cafe features ascetic walls and a unique library that includes albums in architecture and art.
The bar has been painted by street artists, while chairs and tables standing in the café have been decorated by such well-known artists and musicians as Oleg Kulik, Leonid Tishkov, Andrey Makarevich, etc. This is what Artur Yan, one of the founders of the café, thinks about it, “We want this place to be of interest to, above all, creative young people of the city”.
They didn’t develop the club’s interior, they just squatted it.
