Great Moscow planetarium opened on June 13th, 2001
The Planetarium has four levels:
Entertainment section with 4D cinema hall and the «Telescope» cafe.
Museum of Urania with a relief globe and cosmic museum exhibits.
Many exhibits are touchable, demonstrating the laws of physics — these objects are on display in the «Lunarium.»
Here is the «Sky Park» with two observatories, which have astronomical devices and tools.
A big stellar hall with a huge dome where the celestial sphere is projected.
The Moscow Planetarium offers you excursions and lectures. Thematical circles will run.
The area of the new complex — 17, 000 square meters .
Before the renovation the area was about 3,000 square meters.
The area of the dome in the Great Star Hall is 1,000 square meters. It is the largest dome in Europe.
The projector «Universarium M9» shows more than 9,000 twinkling stars and reproduces the astronomical phenomenas in the time interval of 10,000 years .
After reconstruction the building became 6 meters higher . From 32 to 38 meters.
At the first visiting for all comers day 2600 people, not counting children under 5, visited the Planetarium. In future it is planned to pass a steam of about 3,000 people a day.
