The first Moscow gallery of Western European art
In the beginning of the past century Alexandre Benois called Moscow “a city of Matisse, Cezanne and Gauguin”. TheSchool wants to continue great traditions of Russian patrons and not just show masterpieces of Western artists of XIX – first third of XX century in the gallery (impressionists and postmodernists, cubists, futurists and expressionists), but also to take active part and help with organization of exhibitions in the biggest national museums.
The gallery intends to present not only well known names — Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley and Camille Pissarro, Edgar Degas and Auguste Renoir, work of international Paris school and Marc Chagall- but also those artists that were not represented in Russian collections for some reasons. For example, German expressionism works that were a landmark for a great number of soviet artists.
