The «Icon House» museum is a bright, interesting, extraordinary and home-cozy center of Russian culture. Its specifics lies in study and public disclosure of spiritual values and artistic features of Russian icon painting. The museum collection consists of more than 2,000 Russian and Greek icons of XV-XX centuries.
The museum hall features the most valuable and great works of the art collection, from the «Our Lady of Georgia» of the XV century to the church banner icons from the chapel of Emperor Nicholas II. The exhibits of the Academic Hall illustrate the development and the originality of Christian art in Europe, Greece and Russia.
The exposition begins with the Fayum portrait of the late II — the beginning of the III century. Unique Spanish (Catalan) icons dating back to the beginning of the XV century are also on display.
